It is our great pleasure to warmly welcome you to the 3rd Singapore Clinical Nutrition Meeting.

​

Singapore Clinical Nutrition Meeting was inaugurated in 2013 and was co-organised by the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore, the Society of Intensive Care Medicine (Singapore) and the Chapter of Gastroenterologists, College of Physicians, Singapore.  With the Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (Singapore) (SingSPEN) established in May 2015, the 3rd Singapore Clinical Nutrition Meeting will be organised by SingSPEN for the first time.

Malnutrition in patients with acute and chronic medical problems and its consequences on treatment outcome are now increasingly being recognised by medical doctors. The aging population and new procedures have also brought upon new set of challenges for dietitians and pharmacists.  This meeting will provide concise clinical updates for the practising medical doctor, nurse, dietitian and pharmacist.

We would also like to welcome members of our research community to this meeting.  It is fortuitous the biomedical research community has recognised nutrition and the food sciences to be important areas with unmet needs where more investigative collaboration is required.  It is also timely that the funding agencies have been committing to this area in recent years.

​

This year, we are fortunate to include four modules of the European Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Life Long Learning course in our pre-conference workshops. This is the second time modules of this course have been conducted live here and we are confident the participants of these modules will benefit greatly from it. We look forward to more interaction between ESPEN and the clinical nutrition community in Singapore.

We would like to wish both the clinical practitioner and the researcher an exciting and intellectually stimulating scientific exchange at this meeting.
